National Museum of Women in the Arts
NMWA is the only major museum in the world focused exclusively on the work of women artists throughout history. Through collecting, exhibiting, and researching art by women, the museum’s goal is to educate the public on the significant contributions of women in the arts. To that end, Dever Designs is privileged to have worked with NMWA on a number of books and magazines.
Sofonisba Anguissola – A Renaissance Woman is a catalog for an exhibition documenting the life of one of the Renaissance’s only woman artists. Exhibited originally in Italy, NMWA was provided with color separations from the original exhibition’s publication. Our challenge was to design an elegant catalog restricted to the use of the previously sized images. We chose a muted period tapestry background in select neutral tones to unify the layout and complement the range of art.
